Wrestler-actor Dara Singh passes away at 84

Wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh, who was battling for his life in a Mumbai hospital since the last four days, passed away on Thursday. He was 84.

Singh was shifted back home on Wednesday night after doctors said he has "less chance of recovery" due to significant damage to his
brain. "He is already home. Please don't follow us. When he breathes his last, I'll let you know. There is no hope," his son Vindu Dara Singh told reporters.
He was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in an emergency condition on July 7. He had suffered a cardiac arrest and since then he has been in the ICU.
The Commonwealth wrestling champion entered film industry in the fifties and is known for his roles in King Kong and Faulad. He was last seen in Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met (2007) playing Kareena Kapoor's grandfather.
The veteran actor had played the character of Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's epic television series Ramayan.

Veteran Actor Dara Singh died at the age of 84 in Mumbai on Thursday. His doctor RK Aggarwal said, "He died due to cardiac respiratory arrest at around 7:30 am." Dara Singh will be cremated at 2 pm.
The 84-year-old had suffered severe brain damage following a cardiac arrest last week. He was shifted home from hospital on Wednesday night as his family wanted his final moments to be spent at home.
The grim news shook the film industry as well as the political fraternity. Actor Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, "Dara Singh ji passed away this morning. A great Indian and one of the finest humans..An entire era of his celebrated presence gone!"

Dara Singh passed away peacefully at 7.30 a.m. this (Thursday) morning," said Ram Narain, COO, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where the actor was being treated before he was shifted to his Juhu home late Wednesday.

"Angel now gone to shine like a star up above," the actor's son, Vindu Dara Singh, texted after his father's death.

Dara Singh had been undergoing dialysis at the hospital.

It was his family's wish that he should be home in the last stages of his life, a hospital official had said Wednesday.

He is survived by his wife and six children - three sons and three daughters. One of his sons, Vindu Dara Singh, is a known name in showbiz.

The veteran actor was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital Saturday by his family members following a cardiac problem. He had been in a critical condition since then. Two days later, he was put on dialysis after his kidneys stopped functioning.

Dara Singh, who had won the title of "Rustam-e-Hind" for his wrestling prowess, appeared in various films and TV serials.

He is best known for his portrayal of Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's "Ramayan" and in B.R. Chopra's "Mahabharat".

He had appeared in films like "Watan Se Door", "Daada", "Rustom-E-Baghdad", "Sher Dil", "Sikandar E Azam", "Raaka", "Mera Naam Joker" and "Dharam Karam". He was last seen in the 2007 release "Jab We Met".

He had also directed films.

Freelancing could become as big as outsourcing industry

NEW DELHI: Never mind the lacklustre job market in India. Don't worry about the anti-outsourcing outcry in the US. And don't let slowdown and layoffs in the West weigh you down.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8ZcjPd4eXLLxHMSuZCO4vmvnoeuQP_BfVeN8XLP9bPeKleiYfcpJ5_kjjA5Pgx0MALgw0fRjGMQ-EevOQ4YZSe9o3UDXrxCSHvYgCG0wiWDXiZDFtYjgcp9cleVqSxOqVecvfFyvtlyzw/s1600/freelancer_jobs.png
For the hungry, talented and skilled Indians looking for work and income, there is a new job market that has opened up, that is booming and also paying well.

The global online labour market is opening new doors. And Indians seem to be dominating the wave. Freelancer.com says Indians comprise 38% of all users on its website.

http://www.genuinejobs.com/telecommuting/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/freelancing-jobs.jpg

Over 1.2 million of 3 million plus users on www.freelancer.com come from India, making it the number one freelancer country on their website. "India is by far the biggest freelancing nation in the world," says Matt Barrie, CEO, Freelancer.com.

It is the same story at www.oDesk.com, a global online job market place that connects independent contractors to projects being posted by companies across the world. Of the total man-hours of projects grabbed, India is second to the Philippines on the website.

But the good news is that Indians are probably doing higher-end work - because their yield per hour is much higher. Of more than $78 million earned on oDesk in the first quarter of 2012, the company says the largest recipient was India that got 20-30% of the payments. Their business from India has grown eight times since 2008.

"This is the new hidden economy, beyond borders, where people work and go everyday," says Barrie. The trend is set to intensify, going forward. At a time when many economies, including the US and Europe, are dealing with slowdown and staring at uncertainties, MNCs are increasingly shy of hiring full-time employees.

Most are working on a two-pronged strategy to deal with talent requirement. Some are reaching out to independent workers through these online websites to get their one-off projects executed. And some are also leaning towards temp hiring to tide over staff shortages.

Temp industry in the US is booming - according the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, it added nearly 5,00,000 workers between June 2009 and 2011, representing more than 90% of the non-farm job growth in that period.

oDesk.com CEO Gary Swart says: "The opportunities are unlimited. All work that can be done in front of the computer can move online." He says at least one-third of the global workforce could be hired online by 2020.

Gujarat woman milking millions in dairy den

VADODARA: Ramilaben Govindbhai Patel hasn't been to college. But at 43, she earns what some CEOs take home. Nothing fancy here. She milks cows every day and supplies milk to a dairy co-operative. She milked Rs 1.10 crore - Rs 1,10,17,675 - net profit in 2011-12, to be precise!

Gujarat woman milking millions in dairy den

At Pentarpura village in Sabarkantha district, Ramilaben's dairy farm churns out 5.55 lakh litres of milk per annum. What had started as a backyard business in 2000 is now a full-fledged family business. She is an outstanding success story of the change the White Revolution has brought about in Amul capital.

Twelve years ago, Ramilaben registered herself as a primary milk producer at Pentarpura's dudh mandali (village level milk society) and took a bank loan for five cross-bred cows. Today, she runs 'Jai Ranchod Dudh Utpadan Kendra', which is a five-acre home to 280 cattle where 40 workers get employment, even though the farm has four automatic milking machines.

She and her husband Govindbhai visited Israel last year to finalise plans to set up a calf-rearing farm alongside a fully computerized 'tabela'.

"Our farm has 24-hour water, cooling system, fodder chaffing machines and other things but we now want to adopt Israeli technology where rotary units will milk cows automatically and also indicate the fat content," says Ramilaben. The modernization will cost Rs 1 crore.

Ramilaben is an inspiration to other women in Gujarat who are the backbone of the dairy industry. Out of the total 16,117 milk societies, 2,124 are run by women. Of the 31.8 lakh members in 15 district unions, 8.2 lakh are women.

"A quarter of our total members are women but their contribution to the productivity of the dairy sector is much more," says R S Sodhi, managing director of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) that markets the brand Amul.

Facebook may launch job posting service: Sources

HOUSTON: Soon the popular social networking site Facebook will become a recruiter, as per knowledgeable sources, by launching its own job board after teaming with existing job-posting companies, the sources said.

Citing anonymous sources, media reports said that BranchOut, Jobvite and Work4Labs will be at least three of the companies that will pair with the platform.

With the rise of LinkedIn -- and its aggressive moves into social-networking functionality -- having Facebook enter the fray is an obvious play for them.

Whether or not the job posts will display in the news feed is unclear.

Many bigger companies have career recruitment presence on Facebook already, but a centralised engine behind job postings and searches would feed the engagement metrics.

According to recent estimates, the job-posting market is worth about $4.3 billion and everyone would like to have a piece of it.

Last October, the social networking site initiated its move towards becoming a source for job hunters by teaming up with the US Department of Labor and three employment-related agencies in an attempt to decrease the country's 9.1 per cent unemployment rate using social media -- a project that may eventually include a Facebook job posting system.

This partnership started a new era of formal job hunting content on Facebook -- which some recruiters already prefer over LinkedIn -- for the first time.

As part of the initiative, Facebook launched a "Social Jobs" portal that makes easily accessible educational content and tools from its partners at the Department of Labor, National Association of Colleges and Employers, Direct Employers Association, and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies.

It plans to promote this page in the 10 states with the highest unemployment rates and Puerto Rico.

The most interesting aspect of the new partnership, however, is a plan to inch Facebook into job listings territory.

Facebook's statement announcing the partnership mentioned "systems where new job postings can be delivered virally through the Facebook site at no charge."

What shape such a job posting system would take, and whether Facebook has any solid plans beyond research to pursue one, are still not clear.

A job board that lives on Facebook could put the social network in direct competition with sites like LinkedIn and Monster.com.

Assam flood: Over 500 animals dead in Kaziranga

Over 540 animals, including 13 rhinos, have perished in the world-famed Kaziranga National Park in Assam during the current wave of floods, perhaps the worst-ever to hit the Park in recent history. Hog deer are the worst hit with 465 of them succumbing to the flood waters which have

inundated nearly 80% of the Park's area. According to the latest official update, the other casualties include 10 swamp deer, 28 wild boars, five porcupine, 16 sambars and two each of python, wild buffalo and hog badgers.
The death toll was expected to rise further with the water level receding in the UNESCO World Heritage site and more carcasses are being recovered daily, Park Director Sanjib Bora said on Friday.
Speeding vehicles also claimed the lives of about 25 hog deer while two rhinos were killed by poachers.
The Golaghat district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr PC along NH-37, which passes through the Park and barricades have been set up at regular intervals to prevent speeding, Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Sanjiv Gohain Boruah said.
Time cards, restricting speed limit to 40 km per hour and time limit of 65 minutes to cross the corridor, has also been introduced to protect migrating animals who move to higher grounds in the neighbouring hill district of Karbi Anglong by crossing the corridor.
Forest guards, along with the people living in the fringe villages and NGOs, have so far rescued 126 hog deer, two rhino calves, two elephant calves and four barking deer and they are being treated at the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC), Bora said.
The devastating floods have caused extensive damage to roads, bridges and approaches to bridges though the actual extent of the damage was yet to be ascertained, he said.
The Park has been flooded since June 26 and within a couple of days nearly 80% of the sanctuary was inundated with only the natural and artificial highlands spared where the animals fled for shelter.
The death toll among the hog deer was high primarily because they cannot survive in water and due to their small size they find it difficult to flee the flood water, wildlife experts said.

Delhi Metro’s airport express line to close; RInfra may demand compensation

http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/multimedia/dynamic/01136/PREVIEW_METRO_AIRP_1136472f.jpg
The Delhi Airport Metro Express Line, the country’s first public-private partnership metro project operated by the Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Infrastructure, will be closed indefinitely following safety concerns.
The service will be closed with effect from 5:30 am on July 8, Sunday. There is no clarity on when the services will resume, with the company stating there will be a “temporary suspension”.
Reliance Infrastructure may be able to demand compensation from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the period for which the Airport Metro services are closed. This is because safety concerns have been raised over the viaducts — part of the civil structure of the line – which was the responsibility of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
DMRC operates the largest metro network with a peak daily ridership of 20 lakh passengers a day.
Operational for just over a year, the airport express line connects Central Delhi with the Indira Gandhi International airport — operated by GMR — in just 20 minutes, and charges a premium fare for the service. It has already clocked 8800 hours of operation and carried 68 lakh passengers. It also offers baggage check-in services, like the metros in Honk Kong and London.
When contacted, a Reliance Infrastructure source said, “At present, our priority is to resume the service at the earliest. On compensation, we will obviously go by the concession agreement, which would definitely have such a clause.”
PTI reports: Delhi’s Airport Metro Express is expected to resume operations by the third or fourth week of August, says Urban Development Secretary, Mr Sudhir Krishna.

5 Things Men Hate About Women

Deep down they may love us, but there are times when they find women really annoying. Ask any man and they’re sure to mention these 5 habits that they hate about women. So, run through these points women and make sure you avoid these 5 big mistakes…
Shaadi on mind? Act now. Register at Shaadi.com Matrimonial

Jealousy
This is natural and mostly happens when women see their partner checking out other attractive women around them. If you too feel jealous about that, you’re absolutely normal. But, there’s a better way of letting your man know that you do not like him checking out other women. And, if he has more of girl friends in his circle, you need to be more understanding and you got to trust him. So, the jealousy we’re talking about is the type that seems to intrude on the inner space you two share. If you constantly bring up feelings of jealousy, it can often lead to a fight between the two of you and can ruin your relationship. In stead, deal with it in another way, because remember, he hates it when you distrust him.

 Nagging
Women love passing on difficult tasks to their partner and if he’s still seen sitting on the couch watching TV, he’s gone. Women expect men to move it the minute they’re asked to do something. It doesn’t work that way ladies! You’ve done your job of asking your partner to do something, so leave it to him. He knows he’s supposed to do it and he will do it when he’s free. The way women shout shows that he’s undeserving. There’s nothing worse to a man than a woman who won’t get off his case. Don’t be that woman.

Be Yourself
A lot of women show that they’re very understanding, loving and caring and that is only when they’re new in a relationship but as time passes, men get to see the other side of them. We mean, in the beginning, you try to be someone else and later you be yourself. Men don’t like it when women put on a show or pretend to be something they’re not. So, be who you are.
Jumping to conclusions
Women love jumping to conclusions to prove themselves right, isn’t it? But it tends to bug men when we falsely assume something that ends up leading to an argument. Play it safe women and have an open mind. This will save both of you from a headache.
Spying Him
Men are more comfortable in a relationship when they get some space, as they want to be free. Most women love keeping an eye on every move that they make but this is like making him feel that he’s in a cage. If you’ve ever tried to keep tabs on where your guy is, he hated it whether or not he told you, trust us! So, instead trust him and he’ll never let you down. Of course, if your partner has betrayed you in the past, you have all the right to keep an eye on him. But, there’s no harm in giving him a second chance.

VLC Android app finally comes to Google Play, but not for all devices

New Delhi: That dream of being able to seamlessly play any kind of media file on your Android smartphone is now many steps closer to fruition.

The long awaited and after more than a year of development the official VLC app for Android has finally made its maiden appearance on Google Play.

But the VLC app for Android developed by the VLC Mobile Team is still in an unstable beta version and is compatible only with Android devices with ARMv7 CPUs that support NEON media processing engine. VLC says other versions of the app to support more devices are also on their way.

VLC Android app finally comes to Google Play, but not for all devices
The app available for free on Google Play is called VLC Beta (NEON version) and was made available on the Android market on July 2. An unofficial build was posted online in March this year.
The VLC Android app promises to bring in most of the features that has made the desktop version of the universal media player so popular.

In its description of the app VLC cautions users that the current edition of the app is not stable and is slower than the final version. The beta launch of the app is targeted towards power users and hackers and is not for general consumers.

"It might kill your kitten, destroy your house and start the mayan apocalypse. Use it at your own risk. Have Fun! :)," the description jocularly adds.
VLC for Android in its current version can play most local video and audio files, as well as network streams. It includes a media library for audio and video files and allows direct folder browsing. The app supports multi-track audio and subtitles and includes features such as auto-rotation, aspect-ratio adjustments and gestures for volume control and also includes a widget for audio control and supports audio headsets control, cover art and more.
The VLC app for iOS devices was taken off after only a couple of months on the Apple App Store in January 2011 because of licensing issues. The GNU General Public License under which VLC is released is incompatible with the Apple App Store terms of service.
You can download the VLC Beta (NEON version) Android app from here.

Google Analytics app now available for Android

Mumbai: Google has released its website analytics service as an app for the Android mobile platform. The new Google Analytics app is ideally meant for bloggers, website owners and webmasters to stay updated with website statistics. This new app arrives with limited functionality compared to the exhaustive set of features offered in the web version of the Google Analytics service.
Google Analytics offers a comprehensive overview of web traffic and user behaviour in a quantitative and visual manner. With the new Google Analytics app, bloggers and website owners can get to know more about how visitors to their site interact with it.
The official Analytics app has a real time tab that shows details about website traffic at that particular moment. Apparently, users have to refresh that pane manually to get the latest update. The dashboard in the app supports only the charts view and a user can add charts to the dashboard. Other information as alerts is visible in the swipe-friendly user interface.

'Barfi' is not a silent film: Anurag Basu

Mumbai: Director Anurag Basu, who is looking forward to the release of his much talked about project 'Barfi', says that its not a silent movie unlike what its first trailer suggests. The first trailer of 'Barfi' has relied completely on background score and emotions to convey its message to the audience.

"Its not a silent film. The people who can speak in the film do talk. You have to understand that I have great actors who could convey a message without saying a word. What you saw in the trailer is what you can expect," Basu told reporters here, last night at the first look of 'Barfi'.
 http://static.ibnlive.in.com/ibnlive/pix/sitepix/07_2012/ranbir-barfi-630.jpg
"Its not that there are no dialogues in the entire film. I did not think that I will make a silent film with no dialogues from beginning to end. Those who can speak have dialogues. I wanted that everyone should understand the story," he said.
http://static.ibnlive.in.com/ibnlive/pix/slideshow/07-2012/first-look-ranbir/barfi21.jpg

"There are fewer dialogues in the film and that is the specialty of the film. I had good actors who without saying anything could convey the story...then nothing like it. Illena has few dialogues," he added.
The Ranbir-Priyanka starrer revolves around a hearing impared and mute boy and a mentally challenged girl. From the trailer, it looks like Ranbir has been able to essay his role pretty well, and Priyanka's mentally challenged avatar looks quite promising.
http://static.ibnlive.in.com/ibnlive/pix/slideshow/07-2012/first-look-ranbir/barfi17.jpg

"I wanted to make a film which is different and beautiful to spread happiness. When the characters are different, it doesn't mean the film is grim. It is a happy, commercial film," Basu said.
http://static.ibnlive.in.com/ibnlive/pix/slideshow/07-2012/first-look-ranbir/barfi16.jpg
"Earlier on, yes, I made different dark passionate films... that time my life was different but now I am married and I have kids so I should make family films," he said with a smile. The film also starring Tollywood actress Ileana D'Cruz, releases on September 14.

'God particle': Best evidence yet found, US physicists say

BATAVIA (ILLINOIS): Physicists at a US laboratory said on Monday they have come tantalizingly close to proving the existence of the elusive subatomic Higgs boson - often called the "God particle" because it may bring mass and order to the universe.

The announcement by the Fermi National Accelerator Lab outside Chicago came two days before physicists at CERN, the European particle accelerator near Geneva, are set to unveil their own findings in the Higgs hunt. CERN houses the world's most powerful particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

The Fermilab scientists found hints of the Higgs in the debris from trillions of collisions between beams of protons and anti-protons over 10 years at the lab's now-shuttered Tevatron accelerator.

But the evidence still fell short of the scientific threshold for proof of the discovery of the particle, they said, in that the same collision debris hinting at the existence of the Higgs could also come from other subatomic particles.

"This is the best answer that is out there at the moment," said physicist Rob Roser of Fermilab, which is run by the US Department of Energy. "The Tevatron data strongly point toward the existence of the Higgs boson, but it will take results from the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider in Europe to establish a firm discovery."

Scientists have worked long and hard to prove the existence of the Higgs boson, the final piece of a model proposed four decades ago laying out the basic building blocks of matter in the universe.

The Higgs particle's presumed power to confer mass seems to endow it with the power of creation itself, which helped lead to its "God particle" nickname. Many physicists loathe the term, fretting that it makes their discipline seem self-aggrandizing.

Physicists not connected to Fermilab expressed cautious optimism that the long-sought particle had finally been found.

"These intriguing hints from the Tevatron appear to support the results from the LHC shown at CERN in December," said Dan Tovey, professor of particle physics at the University of Sheffield in Britain.

"The results are particularly important because they use a completely different and complementary way of searching for the Higgs boson. This gives us more confidence that what we are seeing is really evidence of new physics rather than just a statistical fluke," Tovey added.

Tovey said scientists will have to wait until Wednesday for the latest results from the European scientists before "getting the full picture" concerning the Higgs boson.

'A nice result'

CERN spokesman James Gillies called Fermilab's findings "a nice result," but added that "it will be interesting to see how it lines up with CERN's results on Wednesday. Nature is the final arbiter so we'll have to be a little more patient before we know for sure whether we've found the Higgs."

Tom LeCompte, a scientist at the Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois who works at CERN and knows the results, said he was confident the Higgs would be shown to exist, or not exist, this year. But he would not say if the findings to be unveiled Wednesday would be definitive.

"I know 2012 is the year. I can't tell you July is the month," LeCompte said.

Others were less cautious. "This is the most exciting week in physics history," said theoretical physicist Joe Lykken of Fermilab.

The Higgs particle is the final quarry in a hunt that began some 40 years ago, when physicists assembled what is now known as the Standard Model. The model is considered the culmination of a quest for the fundamental constituents of matter and the forces that determine how they interact, a search that began some 2,400 years ago with Greek philosopher Democritus' hypothesis that everything is composed of indivisible atoms.

According to the Standard Model, matter is composed of various combinations of six leptons, including the well-known electron and the ghostly neutrino, and six quarks, to which physicists have given whimsical names such as "charm," "bottom," and "strange." The protons at the core of atoms, for instance, are composed of two "up" quarks and one "down" quark.

The Standard Model also includes particles dubbed bosons, which carry nature's four basic forces.

The best-known boson is the particle of light, the photon. It carries the electromagnetic force, which is responsible for such everyday phenomena as the scent of a rose and the pull of a magnet.

Another boson is called the gluon. It binds together the quarks that constitute protons. Without gluons, quarks would stick together no better than an undercooked souffle, atoms would not exist, and neither would stars, planets or life.

Particle accelerators such as those at CERN and Fermilab methodically discovered all the particles predicted by the Standard Model except one.

Square one

The hold-out is the Higgs boson, and its refusal to show itself has long frustrated physicists. The Higgs particle is needed to complete and validate the Standard Model, since if it turns out not to exist scientists would have to figure out the constituents and mechanics of the universe from square one.

Just as importantly, the existence of Higgs was postulated in 1964 to serve a crucial function: conferring mass on some particles that would otherwise have none. Technically, the Higgs particle itself does not provide mass; the particle is, instead, a little knot of matter squeezed out of a force field like a curd forming in soured milk.

The force field is called - of course - the Higgs field. The Higgs field gives mass to some particles but leaves others alone, in a process one might compare to making cotton candy. As the wand is passed through the gossamer cloud of spun sugar, it holds onto more and more of the pink strands.

In much the same way, particles passing through the Higgs field picked up more and more mass, until they became the quarks and leptons and bosons that constitute the stuff of today's cosmos. In this analogy, some wands are oiled, preventing sugar from sticking; these particles remain without mass. Other wands are super-sticky, picking up more than their fair share of mass.

The particle is named after Peter Higgs, now 83, of the University of Edinburgh in Britain, but five other physicists came up with the same idea almost simultaneously.

"The God Particle" was the title of a 1993 book by Leon Lederman, a Nobel-winning physicist and former head of Fermilab, and science writer Dick Teresi. The publisher vetoed titles with "Higgs" or anything else too esoteric. Lederman later said he wanted to call the book "The Goddamned Particle" because the Higgs was so elusive.

Fermilab began its Higgs quest 10 years ago, using its four-mile (6.4 km) circumference Tevatron to smash together protons and their anti-matter twins, anti-protons. When matter meets anti-matter, the two annihilate, leaving behind pure energy.

'God particle': Best evidence yet found, US physicists say

Out of that energy crystallize new particles. It was in this debris that the Tevatron scientists sought evidence of the Higgs boson.

Because the Higgs is hypothesized to exist for a mere fraction of a second before decaying into other particles, the strategy was to look for these "daughter" particles.

CERN's 16.7-mile circumference LHC, which smashes protons against protons at nearly the speed of light, looks for two high-energy photons. The Tevatron looked for two bottom quarks. Before budget cuts forced it to shut down last September after trillions of proton-anti-proton collisions, it found as many as 1,000 pairs that could have come from Higgs particles.

"It is a real cliffhanger," said physicist Gregorio Bernardi of the Nuclear Physics Laboratory of High Energies in Paris and leader of one of the Tevatron experiments. "We know exactly what signal we are looking for in our data, and we see some evidence for the production and decay of Higgs bosons in a crucial decay mode with a pair of bottom quarks. So we are very excited."

The Tevatron results indicate that the Higgs particle has a mass between 118 and 132 giga-electron volts (the unit of mass-energy used in physics in which 1 GeV is about the mass of the proton). Last year, the LHC pegged the mass at between 115 and 127 GeV.

Have the Best One-Night Stand of Your Life

Sex on the beach: Why settle for the drink when you can have the real thing? Your chances of a one-night stand might increase this summer, according to a recent UK survey finding that 40 percent of women under 30 said they’ve done the deed during vacation.
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQbe5z5obfBbABmsa5GI3Vgh9JS39J8RrhFReiHEI4KBDT4YxZQoYopzGp2
This isn’t a huge surprise. Inhibitions drop when you escape business attire, Microsoft Excel, and your overbearing boss for a week. Still, I find it disconcerting that women are often judged for such encounters, and sometimes regret the decision as a result.
Consider a Durham University study in which 80 percent of men rated their feelings after a one-night stand positively, compared to only 54 percent of women. What’s more, many of the women reported feeling “used.” Not shocking when you think about it. After all, “walk of shame” usually refers to a woman.
But if both parties are consenting, what’s so shameful?
http://s1shop.com/images/Audiobooks/enjoy-great-sex.jpg
“It’s the lock and key thing,” says one of my guy friends.  “A woman who has casual sex is like a weak lock because she’ll open for anyone.” [Insert I’m-so-sick-of-this-analogy groan here.] “But a key [the man] that opens any lock is the master key.”
Translation: A woman is supposed to “stay strong” and resist temptation. And if she doesn’t? She’s flawed. Weak. (Can someone please demand a product recall on these completely inadequate locks?) Besides, should sex really be about breaking into something? (*Cough, slippery slope, cough.*)
http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/120629/best_sex_positions_hero_17uqcfn-17uqcg3.jpg?x=310&y=200&xc=1&yc=1&wc=449&hc=290&q=70&sig=LsQ7S_XqOdUv98_Q9ZJsFQ--
Now, I know the majority of guys are respectful, but I’ve heard some variation of this “lock and key” analogy—even from friends, nice guys—way too many times. Not only is it a double standard, it’s stopping many of you from having truly amazing sex. Just imagine if a woman didn’t feel like she was “giving in,” doing something wrong, and actually started enjoying herself. Everyone would win.
The first step: Be respectful during your one-night stands—whether or not either of you wants a relationship. The more respectful men are, the more (and better) sex everyone will have. Here’s how.
While you’re hooking up
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2009/2/3/1233700578193/JOy-of-sex-001.jpg
Be generous. No one really expects a one-night stand or first-time sex to be mind-blowing. You don’t need to be amazing—women know that there’s a lot of pressure on guys to perform—but you should try. It says that you care about her enjoyment, too . . . even if it’s only a one-time thing. Not sure where to start? Try these Simple Sex-Tips to Turn Her On.

After the act
Talk to her.
I don’t mean dirty talk (unless that’s what you’re into). I’m talking about a person-to-person conversation afterward. (If you’re too tired immediately after, do it the next morning.) It doesn’t need to be “sweet nothings,” and you don’t need to ask about her hopes and dreams—just something that indicates she’s more than a means for your pleasure. Maybe even cuddle.  What not to do: Roll over afterward, then point to the door the next morning.
Think of it this way: You both shared something—whether there were emotions involved or not. Respect the moment (and her)—even if you have no intention of seeing each other again.
The next morning
Be a gentleman.
You don’t necessarily need to make a gourmet breakfast and walk her home. But if it’s raining in the morning, lend her an umbrella. If she left her jacket at the bar, lend her a sweatshirt. You get the idea. Trust me, being polite isn’t going to make her want a relationship if she doesn’t want one in the first place.
Long-term
Return to normalcy.
Let’s say you were friends—and you don’t want anything more or less. Behave exactly as you did before hooking up. If you Gchat her everyday at work, then Gchat her everyday at work. It’s only weird and awkward if someone makes it weird and awkward. Don’t let it be you.
You may have noticed that the foundation of some of this advice is simple consideration for another human being. (I mean, you’d probably lend an umbrella to an acquaintance if he didn’t have one, right?) See, a funny thing happens when you see the woman in your bed, not as weak lock, but as—wait for it—a woman in your bed. Respect follows without a second thought—as will better, uninhibited sex
